Spiritual Barriers

As the Church sought God through prayer, He revealed to us two of the greatest spiritual barriers that are keeping people in our community from God. The first barrier is the attitude of independence and isolation. People move to South Fork to get away from town and enjoy the country life. People here have had to be very independent and take care of themselves. For many this means that they do not think that they need help from God or His people. This barrier manifests itself differently in men and women. For men, it results in an independent pride that causes them to break the rules and make their own rules. For women it results in feelings of isolation and depression.

The second barrier that God revealed to us is alcoholism and drug addiction. I have noticed that there are more people that abuse drugs and alcohol here then anywhere else I have ever lived. But fewer of them get caught because we are so far out in the country.
